Birding in Chiangmai Thailand

The Centre of the Universe is ideally located for bird lovers visiting Chiangmai. We are 3 kilometres from Huay Tong Tao, a National Park, where over 250 bird species have been sighted around the lake. Doi Suthep National Park is about 10 kilometres away, and Doi Inthanon, the highest point in Thailand and world famous for its bird-life, is easily accessible by private car. The scenery on the way to Doi Inthanon is stunning and makes for an enjoyable day-trip.

The following 53 species of birds (and counting!) have been sighted in and around our gardens and swimming pool Chiangmai. If you are a birding enthusiast, stay with us and we will help you book transport and/or provide maps and directions to local birding sites.

Alternatively, we can help you to engage the services of a local Thai/English speaking guide.  In the high season November - February, when the number of indigenous species is swelled by the arrival of many migrant birds (and birders!), finding a guide at short notice is not easy and early booking is advised.
